A few years ago I wanted to give my students the option to choose a seat where they would learn best. My husband was kind enough to build me 2 standing tables so that my students could stand if they chose. We also purchased 8 wooden stools and 10 yoga balls so that chairs could be switched for yoga balls. With that being said after 3 years of use, the wooden stools are wobbly and needing a lot of repair and our yoga balls are quickly disappearing due to everyday use. I want to continue providing my class with flexible seating options that will help students keep their brains more alert and focused during instruction all while making learning seem more fun! I want my students to be given a choice of where they will learn best. By giving them voice and choice, they will continue to feel like a valued and respected member of our classroom enhancing our classroom culture and commitment to learning. Flexible seating will allow them to better work on assignments and work collaboratively around the classroom.
