It's an understatement to say that five year olds have a lot of energy! Kindergarten is the first structured learning environment many students experience. It takes almost a full year for these little learners to build up the stamina they need to be successful in school. Brain research shows that movement is directly linked to improved learning for all types of students and trust me we have ALL types in K! These wobble stools have proven to increase student focus and time on task. They will be used at our teacher guided learning table. Here the students need to have all of their attention on the task in front of them. There is so much going on in a kindergarten classroom at all times, games, Smartboard activities, dancing, etc. that it is very hard for students to hold their focus at this guided learning center. Wobble stools will get students excited about going to this center and keep them moving while learning. Their bodies can wobble while their minds focus. My hope is that when we find these wobble stools effective within my classroom we can then ask our principal or PTA to fund wobble stools in all of our K classrooms! Please donate to help my diverse little learners get energy out and their minds focused!
