I am asking for help to purchase flexible seating options for children in my kindergarten classroom. I have already purchased some seating and quickly realized that I unfortunately can not afford everything I would like to provide for the children. Getting twenty-five 5 year olds to sit and focus is not an easy task! From my past 11 years of teaching, I have observed that not all children are able to sit in a chair and accomplish a task. I have often had children that would stand and work or sit/lay on the floor. When my son was in elementary school he would sit on an exercise ball while taking tests. This had a tremendous impact on his learning and I would like to provide exercise balls for my children in my class. I have added pillows to my list so children can be comfortable while sitting or lying on the floor. I have a table close to the floor and if they choose to sit on the floor I would like to have padded seats to sit on. I have also noticed in the past that children love stools so I have also added those to my list. I of course will have regular tables and chairs for my students that like to learn that way but would like to add some bands on the chairs for their feet. My hope is that when the children are learning that I am providing a suitable environment to accomplish that. I believe that giving them choices on where they sit and what they sit on will help to reach this goal
