I have spent two years implementing a curriculum of coding and robotics. My initial materials were for older elementary students/middle school students and I have been struggling to put together items that were more appropriate for the young K-2 students, putting together my own resources and materials to make it work. In June, I attended a conference (the ISTE convention) where I learned about numerous possibilities that have been used and have been successful in other makerspaces and classrooms around the world. Two such items I was able to play with hands-on and talk with educators who have used them successfully were Let's Go Code and Code and Go Robot Mouse. Let's Go Code will allow young students (K-2) to begin to understand computational thinking and code concepts through kinesthetic activity. They will then be able to translate that understanding to the cute mouse that they will be excited to move through mazes and obstacles. These experiences will set a solid foundation for the materials and resources I already have for them when they reach the older grades.
