This year we are focusing on elevating and enhancing our reading program. We are moving to a very personalized reading experience for each student. We will be increasing the amount of time students work in small groups and one on one with the teacher. Students will be taught to engage in more authentic and meaningful reading and writing practice. I am asking for a large classroom rug for the class to gather on for literacy lessons and for students to use during independent and partner reading. I am requesting a rocking chair set and comfortable bean bag seats for students to use during independent reading time. Students will be able to sit comfortably on the rug and chairs as they engage in the independent and group portion of our reading instruction. The donation for this project will create an inviting and authentic reading atmosphere for my early readers. All readers, of all ages, read best and read more when they are comfortable and cozy. This atmosphere will help to create a life long love for reading and books.
