I'm eager to implement some new, exciting changes to my high-energy classroom this year! I've taught third grade for three years. I've worked with kids for nine years now. I was an After-School Teacher for 5+ years. Every Sunday morning, at 1130, I teach 2nd--5th grade kids about God's love in eKids at Experience Life Church. I also help lead a 7th grade boys' Bible Study on Wednesday nights! God has truly brought some incredible children into my life! My kids at church and school don't realize it, but they have completely changed and turned my life around for the better! Flexible Seating is a research-based learning strategy that focuses on creating a learning environment to enhance student learning and increase academic success. Flexible seating helps students to focus on learning. This new learning strategy gives students a voice on how they learn and where they learn. Flexible seating allows students to take ownership about where they sit and work. I am that person who cannot sit still. As a kid, I was hyper and couldn't sit still. As an adult, I am hyper and can't sit still! Lol Even, to this day, my wife regularly says, "Brent, stop tapping your foot. Brent, stop shaking your leg. Brent, why are you pacing around boxing stuff?" Lol I know firsthand how hard it is for kids, or even adults for that matter, to sit still for extended periods of time. I truly believe flexible seating will have a positive benefit on my students!! Comfy Kids Bean Bag Chairs, Rolly Children Study Chairs, Active Learning Stools and Bouncy Bands are all great ways to differentiate learning and provide students with the opportunity to learn while moving!
