With the materials purchased in this project, my students will be able to choose the seat that allows them to focus during independent work in my classroom. Students need to be able to get up from their normal table and find a place they feel comfortable to work.
Research shows that flexible seating can increase motivation and engagement, create a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improve core strength and overall posture. My students will be able to complete independent work and group work while using their preferred seat. The freedom of choice also makes students feel like they have control over their learning.
With the stability balls, wobble chairs, scoop rockers, and tall table my students will be able to move while using a seat other than their normal chair. The folding chairs and stools will allow my students to find a spot other than their normal seat that is comfortable to them. Students will be able to use the wobble discs and fidget bands during independent and group work, but also during whole group instruction because these items can be used with a regular chair. My students all have different needs and these diverse seating choices will help me meet their needs. With these seating options, my students will be able to select the place that they learn best.
