A classroom carpet will give each student their own square to sit in during morning meeting, group activities, read alouds and so much more! Morning meetings are essential for building classroom culture. Many of my students are not taught interpersonal, social, and emotional skills at home. They depend of school as a safe place to grow nurturing relationships. The social skills they learn during morning meeting in kindergarten are the foundation for the rest of their lives. The carpet is also where whole group instruction is given. If each student has their own space they can remain attentive for longer periods of time.
