As a new teacher, I try my best to find innovative techniques to incorporate into my classroom to make learning easier for my students. Flexible seating allows students to choose where and how they learn best. Students will be able to from a variety of options. All options allow students free movement within their seats. Options include, bouncy bands, stability balls, balance discs, and stools. The bouncy bands, stools, and balance discs are specifically used for traditional desk and chairs. Stability balls are best for students that need maximum movement within their seats. These materials are especially important for ELL students. Coming from a new country, students may feel stressed and nervous. Flexible seating offers opportunities for students to express those nervous and stressed feelings. It also offers students the feeling of being comfortable in a new setting.
