A Simple Yet Effective System My interactive notebooks are simple three-ringed notebooks into which students collect handouts and notes. It's not especially fancy. It's just a simple, functional way for students to create, write, and explore ideas all in the same place. The supplies for this project include three ringed binders that each student will use for all aspects of their English 1 class. The students learning styles are incorporated into each lesson and therefore require that many of the student draw or illustrate their notes. To do this they will need highlighters, markers, and paper for the notebooks. The pocket dividers will help the students keep track of important handouts. The wall calendar will be the model for the student calendars for the notebooks (Froshbooks) which will help student keep track of upcoming test dates, project due dates, and school events. In the past, students have struggled using folders. Ninth graders can be messy and they need a more durable and functional method for organization. Interactive notebooks can help students’ process information, study and review for assessments and personalize the content knowledge being presented. Students who are successfully using their Froshbooks tend to make higher grades and are awarded with certificates. The same notebooks can help teachers plan lessons that reach a range of students’ abilities and learning styles. Overall, an interactive notebook is an organizational tool for teachers and students.
