My students need to feel safe and loved. I'm seeking funding for sensory items for my cool down corner in my counseling room! These items will help provide an area for students to use for them to calm down and take a break. Many times during the school day I have students coming into my room who need to relieve stress, anger, and frustrations. Many times they need some time to themselves before they want to talk to me. Other times they just need some time to recollect themselves. The items I have requested for my classroom will help my students be able to come in and choose an item to help them release some of those negative energies. I would even be able to let teachers borrow these items to use in their classrooms. Not all students are the same and some need to feel, touch, fidget with something to calm themselves or let out things that are frustrating them. I feel like my students are pushed so hard and I know these items could really help them challenge their energy and help them in the challenges they face at school every day. I am looking to help increase student motivation and help teachers with fewer interruptions. Sometimes students just need a few minutes to refocus and recharge. So many of my students don't have a safe place of their own and I hope the items in my cool down corner can help them feel safe and that they belong.
