My students are typical kids: fun, caring, active, smart, and energetic. Each of those energetic kids are in my opinion my children. Like any parent, I as a "classroom mama", worry about my kids. I think about each child as I set up and constantly change my classroom environment to better fit their needs and desires. All parents know that sometimes those desires aren't going to meet the budget, and even still some of the needs are difficult to help meet when the budget is low. So it is my goal to do everything possible to help my students have a great learning environment in every way possible. We all know it takes a village to raise a child, and I am just another 'mama' reaching out to my village. Flexible classroom seating will allow my students to have a choice in their education each day. It will allow them to figure out what learning environment space best works for them. It will allow them to be comfortable in their learning environment which also enables them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage themselves in learning. Even being six and seven year old my students already have developed opinions and preferences on how they do things. If I can support my students in any way I will, even if it means completely changing my classroom furniture. Children are constantly changing and developing, we have to keep our classrooms constantly changing and developing to suit their needs. I cannot wait to start adapting my room!
