Teachers too often settle with handouts and dittos to help teach and assess children on what they learn. This is eliminating of the aspect of play and socialization skills are plummeting. We are so focused on teaching to a test that we are forgetting that these kids are 5 and they need that play and interaction from one another. We are so limited to time that somehow we have to be creative when it comes to incorporating play into the classroom. I plan to do this by printing and laminating educational games I get from pintrest and teachers pay teachers. These games will focus on the skills being taught but allow the students the flexibility to play and interact with each other. I still will be able to assess the students by observing them. I will also use them games during state assessment times when I usually give the kids a work packet just to keep them busy. By getting this printer I can make enough games for the kids to work in pairs or individually. These games will also be used from year to year.
