I teach an amazing group of first grade students, in Waco, TX. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and always come with a wide range of abilities and personalities. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to assure all students are engaged and learning while creating a fun, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for learning. I have a commitment to my students to provide them with a classroom, where they will learn best. Its our responsibility to get them ready for second grade. We do this in a number of different ways. We teach them social skills, how to participate in active listening, and academics. "Classrooms that are student-centered and technology based are successful." First Grade students are always learning. Incorporating technology into this 21st century learning environment would allow my students to flourish while engaged. As we just adopted new language arts curriculum, which is heavily based in technology, iPads would provide my students with a technology listening center, which incorporates our new curriculum.
