The standard chair doesn't work for everyone. Flexible seating helps students get comfortable and be able to remain engaged in their learning. The supplies that I have chosen will promote student engagement by allowing my students to move around and be comfortable in their choice of seat. Think about when you're sitting in an uncomfortable chair for a period of time. After a while, you will begin to try to find ways to make that seat more comfortable for YOU. The supplies that I have chosen will give my students a choice to make that seat more comfortable for them. My students love to lean and rock in their chairs. I have specifically chosen the Active Learning Stools and the Scoop Rocker to cater to that love/need to rock in their chairs safely. Choice is also important. Giving my students the opportunity to choose their seat will encourage them take responsibility in their own learning. This will ultimately help promote the positive learning environment that I aim to create.
