My students love math and learning new concepts in math. They are eager and excited whenever something new is introduced. More often than not, when introducing a new concept, we do a lot of practice problems to get the gist of what we are learning. We like to do quick challenges as a whole group and my students receive a lot of practice in small groups as well. Instead of using and wasting paper to practice, my students have been using dry erase markers on their desks and the guided reading table. I walk around to every single student desk to check their work when they do. It would be much easier if we had dry erase boards! The dry erase boards would assist me in not having to walk around to every single desk, and the students could hold up their work for me to see instead of waiting for me to come around (they can sometimes get impatient waiting for me when they are excited about finally understanding a concept). The same would work in small groups. Students sitting at the teacher table can easily see problems that I write down on a dry erase board, work out a problem on a dry erase board and hold it up for me to quick check. To save paper, please help us get dry erase boards for our classroom!
