Virtual reality is an amazing technological advantage that can bring science alive for students. Most students, even in today's classroom, watched shows like The Magic School Bus, where the characters actually got to become a part of the world they were learning about. These virtual reality sets will allow for every single one of my science students to dive into science like never before. My students are from an inland, urban valley, which makes showing my students the ocean worlds or the nature outside very difficult. A lot of Biology, such as genetics or cells, is also very microscopic. However, through virtual reality students can take a more hands-on approach, being able to explore these different realms of science first hand, and allow for their childlike curiosity to lead their investigations to further their educations. My hope is this will improve students' interest, especially females and students of color, into the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields.
