I will be teaching 3rd grade in September 2017. Currently enrolled I have 30 students on my roster. I have been moved into a new classroom and do not have a classroom library for my students. As is the norm in the school district, funds are very limited and classroom teachers make due with what they have. Throughout my years of teaching, I have been able to accumulate some books for my classroom. However, the books are dated, worn, and very low interest for students. I want to instill a love of reading in my students, however, it is quite challenging without a proper library. I believe that teachers can promote better reading performance by reading to children daily and by having them interact with books through the extensive use of classroom libraries. In order to attract and hold children's interests, classroom libraries must be stocked with many good books.
