My lively 6th graders will benefit greatly from these new seating options! I am planning on structuring my class around them. We will do a brief whole group lesson, and then small group and individual work where my students will utilize these seating options to learn in the best setting for them- whether that be on the floor, in a wobble chair, or in a traditional desk. Flexible seating has been proven to enhance learning and engagement, and I want to provide that safe learning environment for my 6th graders. I plan on using the plastic stools at a kidney bean table for teacher-led small groups. I have a rug that will go on the floor with the outdoor cushions as floor seating options. This is where the lap desks will come in handy. I also have a table that I am going to put up against the wall where students will be able to use the wobble stools in a collaborative small group.
