In my science classroom, my students know that they get to experience something different everyday, including firing off bottle rockets (which is my favorite)! I teach in a Title One school where about 85% are considered economically disadvantaged and with a little over half limited English Proficiency. It is a struggle for these kids to see the bigger picture when they have to worry about food on the table or when they are in 6th grade with a 2nd grade reading level in English. The infusion of technology, hands-on learning, and movement in the classroom has really helped keep my kids focused. I know that I must keep the level of engagement up in order for them to succeed, and the idea of personalized and differentiated learning is top priority this year. With this integration also comes an increase in funds that I cannot tackle on my own. Thank you for all that you do in investing in the future of our nation!
