Research shows that in order for students to improve at reading they need to have access to high interest chapter books that are available at their level. As a teacher I try to provide a wide variety of materials for use by my students so they can experience success and improvement as a reader, regardless of what level they are at when they read me. I will be teaching Language Arts using the Reader's Workshop curriculum and that necessitates the students having access to a variety of literary genres and both fiction and non-fiction books. The funding of this project would allow my students to have access to more current books and a variety of genres so that they can find their niche and grow as a reader each day.
