I want my students to be successful learners and for that to happen I want to give them the opportunity to choose a learning space that works best for them in my classroom. A traditional classroom with only desks and chairs does not encourage much critical thinking or engagement. If my project is funded, I can begin to transform my classroom with various seating options that engage the whole child, mind and body. Flexible seating supports engagement and success for all students. The stability balls, wobble seats, and chair bands will be beneficial for those students who have a difficult time sitting still and struggle with focusing on their work. During partner or small group assignments, students can choose to sit on the crate seating {made from file crates} or grabbing a lap desk to use on the floor. Saucer chairs will create a comfortable place for students to sit while enjoying reading.
