Since our low income district is funded by property taxes, the district is forced to cut positions, supplies, and freeze staff pay in order to keep our school afloat. Unfortunately, the fact that our funding is low, also means we lack some of the modern needs for supporting the learning necessary for our kids to succeed in and beyond high school. Technology is one area that our students tend to miss out on, and it is so necessary in todays education climate! My students would use these iPads to learn research skills, have access to individualized, level appropriate reading materials through Google Classroom, and to learn how to be a technologically savvy learner in an area where most districts around them have been using this technology for years. This is an opportunity for our small district to help raise the quality of our 21st century education, while giving our students a better chance to compete in a Global Society that they cannot even comprehend!
