When selecting books for independent reading time, my students need to be able to select books that match their instructional level. The books that they choose from should not be too easy, nor too hard. We call these books "Just Right" books! We are fortunate to have a very large classroom library that I have accumulated over the past 23 years of teaching. Having a place to store these books, as well as a system to level this books will help get the right books into the hands of the students. By having this system, kindergarteners will develop independence in choosing "Just Right" books that will help to increase their reading skills, as well as their excitement for reading, as they will choose their books themselves!
