My students are in need of a great, heavy-duty pencil sharpener because the supplied pencil sharpener that is installed in the classroom is what I call the "Fred Flintstone Model". In other words, it's from the Stone-Age. Not being able to have a sharpened pencil, slows down the learning process while they are working hard. The remaining supplies like pencils, eraser caps, glue and pencil pouches are needed to help all of my students increase their workflow in any subject without worrying about what they don't have. Unfortunately, many of my students come to school with just the clothes on their back, but this doesn't keep them from wanting to come to school every day motivated to learn as much as they can. My students rock!
