My students are special education students ages 5-7. They enter my classroom because they are in crisis and unable to function safely in a typical classroom or access the typical curriculum. They all struggle with a social/emotional disability (and sometimes other accompanying disabilities) and behavioral problems. They are referred to my classroom for these reasons. The goal is to get them safe and ready to learn. The students enter my classroom as a stabilization period where we determine strategies to help them be successful and transition them to the most appropriate placement from there with these new strategies and guidelines in place. The goal is to re-integrate them into their typical classroom, however, they sometimes require a more restrictive classroom with extra supports.
