My students were super excited to be introduced to the recorder in our PTSA sponsored music class and were amazed that I could play songs for them off the top of my head. I have a strong background in playing the recorder, I have played since I was in grade school and would like to teach my students how to play this simple, yet beautiful instrument. My students will learn how to read music, the basic fingerings on the recorder and how to properly play the recorder. We have no formal music program in our school, so there are no opportunities to join any kind of band or musical group until junior high in our school district. Learning how to read music and play an instrument will give them the skills and confidence they need to advance in the musical realm. Lyons Soprano recorders are the perfect starter instrument for my third graders. My plan is to grant each of my current students a recorder to use in class and use another set of 25 recorders to initiate a club for next school year. Thank you for considering supporting my sweet third graders.
