I strive to create a nurturing and challenging environment for learning. My teaching is most effective when factors such as prior experiences, community settings, cultural backgrounds and ethnic identities are considered in my lesson planning and implementation. In my new role as an intervention teacher, I am fortunate to serve the many kindergarten-5th grade students at my school that qualify for intervention support. Our school is working towards becoming a Conscious Discipline School. My classroom has a designated "Safe Space" where kids can take time for breathing, identifying feelings, and relaxing before rejoining their peers.
