Our Pre-K students engage in center time play experiences for 4 hours of their school day. During this time, they are provided with hands-on learning activities to help engage and motivate them throughout the day. Our students look forward to this time each day, when they are able to play with their peers, learning how to interact with one other by taking turns, and sharing. Having the unit bricks, rocks, and beams set in some of our centers will motivate students more to engage in these play experiences. Our students demonstrate much interest in engineering and architecture while playing in the blocks center. Oftentimes, they are building their homes, and familiar buildings they see around our school. Finding interests like this, allows students to expand their vocabulary by talking more to peers and teachers in the classroom. Majority of our class are English Language Learners, therefore, finding these interests and engaging students in materials they are excited about, like this building set, is a crucial part to helping them learn the English language.
