When scholars can work at their own pace, on their developmentally appropriate academic level, real progress can be made. One size does not fit all; not all can finish a race at the same time, and not all start at the same place. When math meets scholars at their individual level, good things happen. Some scholars need help solving two step algebraic equations; some need help measuring angles; some need help adding and subtracting integers; some need help memorizing their multiplication facts. Inner-city scholars come from a very different place than their suburban counterparts. Very often inner-city schools lack the same resources and their suburban counterparts. This is a small resource (headphones) we can get into an inner-city classroom to make an immediate difference.
