Literacy is an important passion of mine, which I would like to share with my students from day one.
My kindergarten class will be using these literacy supplies every day to build reading, writing, and positive character skills which will prepare them for success!
My students will be using the dry-erase pockets on a daily basis beginning with the first day of school. They will learn to write their name, numbers, and letters of the alphabet. They will then progress to word and sentence practice. This will build their confidence as readers and writers!
Magnetic letters and cookie sheets will be used for building sight-words, and practicing decoding.
The CD player and headphones will be a "listen to reading" center to aid with comprehension and listening skills which are so important to build at a young age.
Phonics cubes will help my blossoming readers begin to build words of their own, while Silly Sentences will grow them into amazing readers.
The variety of character building books will give them opportunities to read about appropriate behaviors for school, while allowing for positive discussion with peers and learning problem solving skills.
