The World Music Drumming Curriculum not only explores the rhythmic music of various cultures, but also teaches the cultural significance and role that drumming has in non-western music. Students that participate in the World Music Drumming Curriculum experience syncopation, complimentary rhythms, echo songs, call and response and much more. Students will be responsible for respecting the drum and the community before they are allowed to play. This consists of waiting to be invited to play the drum, playing with proper technique and allowing the voices of the individual parts of the ensemble to ring clear so that all the textures of the ensemble are heard. By donating these drum heads, this year's fourth and fifth grade students and future generations will be able to experience non-western music and expand their understanding of the world around them.
