If I get funding for the nonfiction Scholastic magazine, my students will be able to learn a lot from these informational texts. They are interested in nonfiction and these magazines will be a great motivator. Nonfiction will give my students' vocabulary a boost. The Common Core standards are focusing more on text complexity, and this magazine will be a great resource for that. Research skills can be taught using this magazine. Also, because each student will have their own copy of this magazine, they will be able to keep it and use it at home when we are finished with them in the classroom. Your donations to this project will improve my students' vocabulary, research skills and expose them to much needed informational texts. My students' motivation to read about real and current subjects will go through the roof, and I will be a grateful teacher!
