For a year now, I've been actively researching the benefits of Flexible Seating and obsessively pinning all types of seats that would work in my classroom. I was instantly intrigued by the idea of providing my students with seating choices and taking yet another step to create a student-centered classroom. Last year I began with a few stools and carpet squares. I was pleasantly surprised to see my students gravitating toward these choices rather than the traditional desk and chair, but even more surprising was their eagerness to begin assignments. My classroom attendance record was a high 97 percent last school year. I'm certain that creating a more comfortable environment will not only increase attendance, but also student motivation. I want to create a place my students look forward to coming to each day! I am requesting stability balls, Wobble stools, and table risers to create a student-centered environment that helps students be their best learning selves.
