In my elementary classrooms, I remember having a listening centers. It was one of the coolest centers. It was so awesome because you got to listen to books that looked fun, but may not be able to read yet. It made me learn to love books and reading! I want my students to have the chance to explore more books on a daily basis through a meaningful experience, and learn to love books! I believe that a listening center provides a whole new opportunity to love reading. Students will become more engaged with the text by hearing someone read to them, and get to explore new books and enrich their reading experience. The audio books will be used during our language arts small group as a center for kids to explore learning. The audio books will expose students to new vocabulary, and allow them a chance to practice following along with the text as they listen. Last, but not least audio books are just plain fun, and I would love to provide my students another opportunity to make learning fun!
