I graduated in May from the University of North Texas. When I got offered a Kindergarten teaching position, I couldn't have been more excited! Because I am a first year teacher, I am having to create a welcoming environment from scratch. I have spent all of my savings on classroom supplies, but my classroom is still severely lacking. I want to provide my kindergartners with alternative seating, and organize materials in a way that fosters student independence. For a kindergartner, the first day of school is filled with so much anticipation and excitement, and I want to live up to their expectations. How the materials will be used: - The soft rocker will be used during reading, and to spotlight students when they share with the class. -The clear bins/ cart will be used to organize materials in a way that students can easily see and access. - The construction paper holder will allow students to gather materials without having to sift though piles of paper - The hundreds chart will be utilized to help students recognize numerical patterns during circle time and math -The students will be able to take the pillows around the room during reading. -The pencil sharpener has a light that indicates when the pencil is finished so that students can sharpen pencils independently. I know my students will appreciate all of your kindness. Thank you for your consideration.
