Coding and robotics have become a huge part of middle and high school curricula. Why not start sooner? The items that I have requested are fun and engaging games appropriate for 4-year-old kindergarten students. They are game based and allow students to immediately see the effects of their work. These materials would be added to my set of classroom technology and would allow me to make the usage of the technology more adaptable to this young age group.
Our world is ever growing and changing and it is our job as teachers to prepare children for the advancements that we do not yet know. With your help, I will make technology, robotics, and coding a part of my students' every day learning environment. I have requested a Wonder Workshop Dash & Dot Robot Wonder Pack. Dash & Dot are robots that students can make sing, dance, and navigate around our classroom while practicing coding on our classroom iPads. The Wonder Pack includes many different accessories that will transform the robots into launchers and and even allow children to compose their own music. I have also requested two games to use with our classroom Osmos. The Coding Awbie Game will help children practice logic and problem solving skills while using coding to help a character through a maze. The Creative Set with Monster Game is incredible! Illustrations that the children create, instantly become part of the digital world. The blend of creativity and technology is magical.
What I love about the specific materials that I have requested is the ability to connect the technology to many other curricular areas. We will use these materials in retelling of stories as well as mathematical and scientific exploration. Also each of these items naturally lend themselves to explore artistically and further develop children's imaginations.
