I am hoping to bring flexible seating into the classroom for this coming year. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. Over the past 4 years I have noticed this is something my students could benefit from. I implemented 2 flexible seating options this past year and noticed great results. The options I have chosen are wobble chairs, wobble cushions for lowered desks, stools, balance balls, a futon and saucer chairs. All of these options will help create a positive working environment for my students and one that allows them to feel comfortable. I have always told each group of students that our classroom is their home and that we are a family. I think giving them these choices of seating will bring that to life!
