Our school adopted an earbud-free policy two years ago to encourage better communication with and amongst students. The results have been amazing, however it has led to some challenges as a teacher in the classroom. There are times when my students need to listen to videos, online tutorials or virtual labs on the Chromebooks and it is too loud and distracting to have the audio playing on every computer. A classroom set of school-approved headphones would not only abide by our school policy but truly enhance the online learning environment for the students. Students would be able to use the headphones during station labs and virtual tutorials in a more independent learning setting rather than having to pause and listen to the content via the main class projector.
