One of the most difficult areas for my students is engagement. Their home-life struggles often make learning hard for them, because it's tough to focus when you're hungry, tired, or feel unsafe. My students need quality options for flexible seating in the classroom. By providing these items for my students, they will be able to choose a seat that works best for them and their learning. If they need to wiggle to learn, they can wiggle on a stool and if they need a soft and cozy spot, they can use a pillow. The beauty is that all of this can be done without disturbing the learning of other students in the class. When students are engaged, they are not only taking ownership of their own learning, but they are so busy having fun while learning, that others are not disturbed; it's a win-win situation!
