I've found throughout the school year that my students learn their best when I allow them to be flexible. I have students that struggle to concentrate, sit in one spot, and are easily distracted during the learning process. We take several breaks throughout the day to dance and move around. Our play time is essential because of the struggles that take place. I often create a song to go with our learning so that we can move around. I am so excited to offer my student a flexible seating option because I can see the struggles the students have by just sitting at a table with chairs or just sitting at the carpet. During this year I've borrowed tools to help and those students that have special needs. Theses students are doing amazing socially and academically. I plan to use the tools at different areas of my classroom. The wobble stools will be at the table. The ottomans will be at my Guided Reading table. The chairs will be in the middle of the room and the other tools will be scattered throughout to give them a difference in their seating. They will get to choose their seating option. I can't wait to offer the entire class the same tools.
