We as adults fear public speaking, because we did not have a solid foundation in reading. Reading provides public speaking experience, reading comprehension, phonic skills, and so much more. Reading is the base for all things including math, science, social studies, driving, eating, etc. These tools will be used to provide a specific skill set that will promote a love for reading. Kindergartners are known to be very busy and inattentive at times. They learn best through play, dance, and music. All things that are interesting to them. That is why we use different pieces of texts that caters to their interest. We can easily turn these books into verses and sing them to promote fluency. We can then turn them into games, that will promote comprehension. We can also show them that the words they use (vocabulary) is every day words that they hear and say each day. These tools will show that reading can be fun and there's no need to fear speaking in public. Reading and speaking goes hand in hand.
