My students are 3-5 graders with autism who are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and thoughtful. Our self-contained special education classroom is a part of a Washington, D.C. public school in a high poverty area. All of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch, and our school is on the list of the District's 40 targeted schools with the highest needs. Despite these challenges, my students work hard to, "Be the best!" which is our school motto. Because autism affects my students' language and social skills, each student receives individualized, small-group instruction catered to meet their specific needs. Watching them meet and exceed their goals inspires me to be a better teacher, and I cannot wait to see what they can achieve with the materials and resources donated by great donors like you!
