Students need an safe and comfortable learning environment that supports individual reflection, collaboration, and discussion. Flexible seating - student choice of an area that will make them successful - facilitates this type of learning. Attention spans are greatly diminishing. With the implementation of flexible seating, students have to ability to move throughout the day, giving their bodies and their minds, a jump start to refocus the learning process. The materials I am requesting will help supplement the seating options I have added to my classroom throughout the years. The students will have the option of individual desks, group seating at a chair level, group seating at a lower level, bouncy ball seating, and individual stool seating. My goal is for every student to feel comfortable throughout the day, physically, emotionally, and educationally.
