Materials such as a story board will help my students role play, pretend, and retell the story. A listening center will allow students to escape into a book by putting on headphones and listen will they follow along with the story. Brightly colored oversized pillows will make it bright, fun, and inviting for the kids to relax and feel safe and at ease so they can focus on engaging in activities that will strengthen their literacy skills. A variety of age appropriate books will allow them to engage and work on their emergent reading skills. All of these supplies will help provide an escape from the negative things they may experience outside of school and allow them to dream!
