The math manipulatives make a huge difference in learning new math skills. Students become engaged in the lessons and learn to love math when they are able to participate in hands on learning.
Many students have a hard time comprehending the new concepts they are learning. By using math manipulatives and working out problems on white boards they are able to better understand and grasp the math concepts they are struggling with. Using individual white boards allows each student to work out the math problems and then I can see which students are mastering the concept and which students are still struggling. The magnetic math manipulative library is a great visual and hands on resource that helps to present the lesson in a variety of ways. The elapsed time and write board teaches students time measurement and problem solving.
These resources also allow me, as the teacher, to set up math centers so students can work in small groups and then I am able to pull some students for small group teaching.
