I want my students to have a better understanding of the world they live in. Many of them have such limited background experiences. Many also come from homes where they have very negative opinions about our government. I also have several ESL students, with limited knowledge about our nation. I want my students to not only develop a better understanding of our country, I want them to be proud of our nation and its diverse history. I am hoping that Scholastic News with its wide variety of resources will be able to help us reach our goal. When my students see the news, I don't want them to be upset, I want them to develop a better understanding of the world around them.
