Within my reading block, students have the opportunity to read authentic literature as a pathway to developing vocabulary knowledge. Students take ownership of their learning and are given the choice to read at comfortable spaces around the classroom. The materials in this project will provide better choices for students to sit and read. For example, the balance ball chair encourages students to practice active sitting allowing students to read for longer periods of time. The wobble chairs also increases student focus by keeping the body active and the mind engaged. The wobble cushions are another choice students will be able to wiggle when they feel the urge to move and continue to read for a longer period of time. Students may choose to stand on the wobble cushion and wiggle around while working. The seating choices selected for this project enable students to read for longer periods of time, provide comfort, and movement to the body. During independent reading students will dive into their books and be provided with greater opportunities to move making learning more effective. Comfortable spaces empowers students' learning.
