These materials would help my students in their listening center. They would be exposed to multiple genres by choosing any book they wanted. Also, they would have their own copy of the book to track print while being read to. This would further extend the print rich classroom we have. Students would be exposed to higher level vocabulary. Placing these books in the listening center would help students become more independent in their reading. It is well known research that students who are read to will be at better advantage than those who don't. This will allow my students more opportunities to be read to. Hopefully, this can help bridge that gap.
