Each week students come to music excited about moving, singing, and playing instruments. Too many students playing a string instrument like a guitar would be an amazing opportunity. Since guitar is a bit more difficult for small hands and classes to use ukuleles are an excellent addition to the music classroom. They make string instrument playing accessible to even the youngest players. Having ukuleles in our elementary classroom would enrich the students' music experience and help make our county-wide music program more well-rounded. Many middle and high schools in our area offer band and chorus classes but in our county, the only opportunity for students to participate in playing a string instrument is at the elementary level on ukulele.
